CHARLESTON, W. Va. – The Golden Eagles played their first match on Elliot Field, at the Welch Athletic Complex on Sunday afternoon. The Golden Eagles picked up their second win of the season with a 4-0 victory over the Tiffin University Dragons.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Golden Eagles were led by McKenna Sullivan who knocked in two goals for the Golden Eagles.
Both offenses had opportunities in the first half, each team with four shots a piece, but UC capitalized on an opportunity at the 31-minute mark. After 30 minutes of play the Golden Eagles were awarded a free kick 25 yards out, when
McKenna Sullivan put the ball in the upper right-hand corner to give the Golden Eagles the 1-0 lead.
In the second half, after fire three shots to zero for the Dragons, the Golden Eagles drove the field with 26 minutes to play in regulation,
Keira Hill played a ball across the mouth of the goal where Sullivan slid in for the finish, giving UC the 2-0 advantage.
The Golden Eagles continued to press the Tiffin goalkeeper for the next four minutes and with 22:53 left to play,
Evelina Von Euler once again played the ball across the goal where
Shannon Henson put the ball away giving the Golden Eagles the three-goal lead on the Dragons.
After tallying six additional shots in the second half, Keira Hill scored her first goal of the 2019 making the score 4-0 for Charleston.
With just over eight minutes to play in the second half, Lily Cady of the Dragons snuck one by the Charleston defense preventing the Golden Eagle's shutout.
Charleston would hold on for the remaining minutes of play to take the 4-1 victory in their first game on Elliot field.
