BUCKHANNON, W. Va. – Charleston will be on the road for two games this weekend. The first of the games will be against West Virginia Wesleyan on Friday, Sep. 27 at 7:00 p.m. and the second will be played at Davis & Elkins College Saturday, Sep. 28 at 2:00 p.m.
The Golden Eagles are fresh off a loss to Alderson Broaddus on Tuesday. Despite the loss, there was plenty of positives to take from the game that UC hopes to build off of and carry into the weekend with them. Charleston will look for production from senior Janeese VerVelde, as she has been playing well these past few games recording 47 kills in her past 5 games. Charleston will also hope to receive a similar performance from sophomore Rachel Phalen who had 24 kills in the game against Alderson Broaddus earlier this week.
Charleston will look to snap their eight-game losing streak against a West Virginia Wesleyan team that has not had a great start to the season either. They are currently 2-8 on the season but are fresh off of a win against Virginia Union University.
Following this game, the Golden Eagles will travel down to Davis & Elkins college to play a mid-afternoon match against the Senators.
Davis & Elkins is currently 6-4 on the season and is looking to ride on the three-game win streak they currently possess. They will hope to carry their momentum from the past three games into the weekend with them.
