How it Happened
Charleston dropped the season opener on Thursday afternoon after playing a defensively sound game through the first 80 minutes of the contest. A fantastic defensive effort from both teams allowed the game to stay close until a pair of goals from Maggie Cecere in the 80th and 87th minutes made it 3-0 Kutztown. Going into the half, the Golden Bears were outshot UC 7-3, but the eventual winners were outshot by the Golden Eagles in the second half to give UC the advantage in shots, 10-9. Despite 10 shots from UC, only on goal compared to Kutztown's seven allowed the visitors to put added pressure on the UC defense.

Heading into the second half down just a goal, the Golden Eagles pressured the Kutztown's offense and moved the ball into visitors' defensive zone on multiple occasions. Despite several shot attempts from UC, Kutztown made work of two late second half shot attempts as they capitalized on both of them. UC forward McKenna Sullivan recorded three shots with two on the goalkeeper. The Golden Eagles will look to jump into the win column on Saturday as they host Seton Hill University at Schoenbaum Stadium with kickoff scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
