MVB Takes on Erskine and Limestone This Weekend

CHARLESTON, W. Va. – The University of Charleston men's volleyball team will be back at home this weekend as they have two games lined up for them. They are scheduled to play Erskine College at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 17 and Limestone College at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 18.

Charleston is currently 0-4 on the season having lost two games to No.1 ranked Hawaii two weeks ago and dropped their other two games to No. 10 ranked Princeton University this past weekend. All of which the Golden Eagles lost in three sets. Although they have not won a set this year, UC has shown a lot of fight and passion, playing two very talented teams hard and showing spurts of impressive play. They will look to turn things around this weekend against Erskine and Limestone.

Erskine will be playing their first match of the 2020 season on Friday as they come to town to take on the Golden Eagles. Erskine finished with a 7-21 overall record last season with a 2-12 record on the road. They will look to kickstart their season and get off on the right foot. UC has played Erskine only one time before back in 2018 where they won in three sets.

Charleston will then go head to head with Limestone College on Saturday night. Limestone has also not played a game yet this season. They will be on the road on Friday, Jan. 17 as they will take on Alderson Broaddus in Philippi, W. Va. Before they make the trip out to the Wehrle Innovation Center to take on the Golden Eagles. Limestone finished with a 14-13 record in 2019 with a 6-6 record when on the road. This will be the third meeting between the two teams. UC has had the upper hand in past matches as the Golden Eagles have a 2-1 record against the Saints. All three matches they have played against limestone have either been in Gaffney, SC or at a neutral location.

Charleston will look forward to having home-court advantage as they get ready for their two-game set this upcoming weekend.
