GLENVILLE, W. Va. – The Golden Eagles Softball team (6-0) went 2-0 on Saturday at the Glenville round robin tournament. Charleston took a 6-1 win against the Mercyhurst Lakers, followed by a 5-0 win over Mansfield University.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME 1:
Emma Groe opened up the scoring for the Golden Eagles in the first inning on a 2-RBI homer that scored senior third-basemen, Karli Pinkerton.
In the second inning with two runners on Pinkerton hit a single that scored Brionna Bowman, and advanced Janey Schmidt to second base. Charleston increased their lead to 4-0 in the third inning with an RBI single from Kendall Marshall that sent AJ Martin home.
Charleston knocked in a pair of runs in the fourth inning for a 6-0 lead.
The Lakers got on the board in the fifth, on a double from Marisaa Cartellone, but it would not be enough to overcome the Golden Eagles who tallied their fifth win of the season.
Carlee Lucas got the start and complete game victory for the Golden Eagles, striking out seven batters and only allowing two hits in the win.
GAME 2:
A single from Megan Eder scored Pinkerton in the top of the first for a 1-0 for Charleston. After three scoreless innings, Destinee Miles scored in the top of the fifth, as Jenna Shepherd was picked off leaving first base.
Again, in the fifth inning Brionna Bowman grounded out to shortstop allowing Kendall Marshal to score for the 3-0 Golden Eagles lead.
Emma Groe and Kendall Marshall combined for three runs in the sixth inning to give the Golden Eagles the 5-0 win, improving to 6-0 on the season.

Charleston will head to Glenville State College on Saturday for a round robin tournament.
