UC Falls to EIVA Opponent Saint Francis University 0-3

HOW IT HAPPENED
Both teams seemed to be trading blows in the first set as they carried a tie score through the middle of the set at a score of 16-16. Neither team seemed to be able to take control of the momentum of the set. The Red Flash took the lead by a score of 20-18 before the first timeout of the set was taken. 
 
Saint Francis would come out of the time out to take the advantage over Charleston of 20-23. Charleston would only manage to gain one more point in the set as the Red Flash took the set by a score of 25-21. 
 
Saint Francis was able to put together 12 kills on 24 attempts with one error giving them a hitting percentage of .458. Charleston had 15 kills on 33 attempts with seven attacking errors netting them a .242 hitting percentage. The Red Flash had one ace, one block and five service errors in the set. Charleston had one ace, no blocks and four service errors in the set.
 
Charleston started the second set taking the lead 4-1. The Red Flash would come back to tie the game up at 9 all. Saint Francis would gain some momentum in the middle of the set going up 13- 17 before the first timeout of the set was taken. 
 
The Red Flash would take control of the set coming out of the timeout. They went on to take the set by a score of 17-25. 
 
Saint Francis had 11 kills on 19 attempts with one attacking errors giving them a hitting percentage of .526. Charleston had seven kills on 20 attempts with six attacking errors giving them a hitting percentage of .050. The Red Flash had three aces, three blocks and two service errors while the Golden Eagles had one ace, one block and eight service errors in the set. 
 
Charleston fell behind early in the first set by a score of 3-6. UC was then able to come back to tie the game at seven all. As the game continued, Saint Francis pulled ahead by two by 11-13 before the first timeout of the set was taken. 
 
Coming out of the timeout, UC was able to tie the game back up at 13 all. The teams would then continue to trade blows as the score was tied deep into the set at a score of 21. Saint Francis took the lead going up by one point over UC 21-22 before the second timeout of the set was taken. 
 
Coming out of the timeout, UC would tie the score back up at 23. Saint Francis would go on to take the next point making it a 24-23 game before the third timeout of the set was taken. 
 
Coming out of the timeout, Saint Francis would take the game on a kill winning the set 23-25. 
 
Saint Francis had 14 kills on 31 attempts with five attacking errors leading to a .290 hitting percentage. Charleston had 13 kills on 34 attempts with six attacking errors giving them a .206 hitting percentage. The Red Flash had no aces, one block and five service errors. Charleston had no aces, two blocks and four service errors. 
 
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES 
Sophomore Lachlan Bray had 13 kills on 22 attempts with four errors netting him a .409 hitting percentage. Sophomore Diego Villafane had 29 assists, two blocks and one kill in the match.

The Golden Eagles will be back on the court tomorrow afternoon as they will take on EIVA opponent Penn State on the road at 4:00 p.m.
