CHARLESTON, W. VA. – The University of Charleston Lacrosse program (1-2, 0-0 MEC) fell at home on Saturday afternoon evening to the Eagles from Ashland University by a score of 16-8 at the Welch Athletic Complex. The Golden Eagles were led by
Emma Renda, who notched three goals and an assist while
Elishia Davis and
Renee Gering each scored a pair of goals.

Ashland got on the board first with a goal at the 25:55 mark as Sofia Michael scored off an assist Renee Ruppert. In the next four minutes, Emily Jewell scored a pair of goals for Ashland with assists by Ruppert and Michael. Charleston was able to trim the Ashland lead to 3-2 on a pair of unassisted goals from Renda before Ashland held the Golden Eagles scoreless for the remaining 20 minutes of the half. Seven unanswered goals from the Eagles which included five assists gave both Michael and Jewell first half hat tricks headed into the break with Ashland holding a 10-2 advantage.
Out of the break, Ashland would score the first three goals to increase their lead to 13-2. The Golden Eagles would fight back to score four of the next five goals but the ten unanswered goals from the visitors would be too much, as after cutting the Eagle lead down to eight, the teams would exchange a pair of goals each to end the game with Ashland holding a 16-8 advantage.
For the game, Ashland outshot the Golden Eagles 29-20 including a 24-14 advantage on goal. Ashland committed 16 turnovers compared to 14 for Charleston while the teams each posted 11 ground balls. Ashland used a 17-7 draw control advantage while each team posted respected numbers for clear attempts, with Ashland converting 12-of-14 while Charleston finished 13-of-15.
