WINTER PARK, Fla. – The Golden Eagles are 2-0 after the first day of the PFX Spring Games after downing Clarion 2-0, followed by a 9-8 win over the University of Mary.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME 1:
Carlee Lucas didn't allow a single run as UC Softball defeated Clarion University 2-0 on Monday. Lucas allowed just one hit.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Lucas struck out nine, while Laura Sadowski sat down two. One bright spot for Clarion University was a single by Aryn Boyer in the third inning.
Lucas was credited with the victory for UC Softball. She went seven innings, allowing zero runs on one hit and striking out nine. Sadowski took the loss for Clarion University. She went six innings, allowing two runs on seven hits, striking out two and walking one.
Allysa Lake led UC Softball with two hits in three at bats. UC Softball didn't commit a single error in the field. Lake had nine chances in the field, the most on the team.
Boyer went 1-for-2 at the plate to lead Clarion University in hits.
GAME 2:
Despite seeing its four-run lead whittled down by the end, UC Softball still held off University of Mary for a 9-8 victory on Monday. University of Mary put up four runs in the failed comeback. Mariah Sanchez, Mikaela Pelesauma, and Sanchez all picked up RBIs in the rally. UC Softball collected 12 hits and University of Mary had nine in the high-scoring affair.
In the first inning, UC Softball got their offense started when Emma Groe drew a walk, scoring one run. University of Mary scored three runs in the sixth inning. Sanchez and Pelesauma powered the big inning with RBIs.
Dani Bauer was the winning pitcher for UC Softball. She lasted four and two-thirds innings, allowing five hits and five runs while striking out seven. Alyssa Yungwirth threw two and a third innings in relief out of the bullpen. Madison Jahner took the loss for University of Mary. She went seven innings, allowing nine runs on 12 hits and striking out three.
UC Softball racked up 12 hits on the day. Karli Pinkerton, Megan Eder, Destinee Miles, and Brionna Bowman each had multiple hits for UC Softball. Bowman, Miles, Eder, and Pinkerton each collected two hits to lead UC Softball.
University of Mary collected nine hits. Rebekkah Keller and Emma Noble each racked up multiple hits for University of Mary. Keller led University of Mary with three hits in four at bats.
