FAIRFAX, VA. – Charleston traveled to Fairfax, VA to take on EIVA opponent George Mason University in a Saturday afternoon match. UC would hold the lead for most of the game but ultimately fall 2-3 to the Patriots.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Charleston was unable to take the first set as the Patriots won the set by a score of 18-25. Charleston had 12 kills on 24 attempts with five errors giving them a percentage of .292. In comparison, the Patriots were able to get off eight kills with one error on 11 attempts. UC had one ace, one block and eight service errors which would ultimately cripple them. The Patriots had three aces, two blocks and four service errors in the set. 
 
Charleston would prevail in the second set as they came back to even the game up at two a side. UC had 11 kills on 27 attempts with two errors giving them a .333 hitting percentage. George Mason had 11 kills on 26 attempts with seven errors netting them a .154 hitting parentage. UC had four aces, no blocks and five service errors. George Mason had two aces, no blocks and three service errors. 
 
Charleston would take the third set in very close fashion. They would take the set by a score of 26-24. UC had 13 kills on seven errors with seven attacking errors giving them a .182 hitting percentage. The Patriots had eight kills on 26 attempts with five errors giving them a .115 hitting percentage. UC had three aces, no blocks and six service errors. George Mason had two aces, three blocks and five service errors. 
 
The Patriots would rally back to take the third set as they won it 25-20. UC had 11 kills on 29 attempts with eight errors giving them a hitting percentage of .103. George Mason had 12 kills on 27 attempts with six errors netting htm a percentage of .222. UC had no aces, one block and two service errors. George Mason had three aces, no blocks and three service errors. 
 
With the game on the line, UC could not pull the victory out as the Patriots took the set by a score of 13-15. UC had 10 kills on 23 attempts with two errors giving them a percentage of .348. George Mason had 12 kills on 25 attempts with one attacking with a hitting percentage of .440. UC had no aces, no blocs and one service error while the Patriots had no aces, two blocks and two service errors. 
 
NOTABLE PERFORMANCES
Maarten Bartels had a season high 22 kills on 47 attempts with seven errors netting him a .319 hitting percentage. Lachlan Bray had 20 kills on 36 attempts with five errors giving him a percentage of .417. Diego Villafane had 48 assists on the night.
