Three Golden Eagles Playing Professionally

CHARLESTON, W VA. – Three alumni from the University of Charleston's men's volleyball team have recently signed professional contracts to play overseas. Those three players would be Brandon Greenway (2019 Grad), Max Senica (2020 Grad) and Eugene Stuart

Greenway signed to play for Volleyklubben Vestsjælland, a professional club that is located in Korsør, Denmark. In his time at UC, Greenway played as an outside hitter totaling 346 kills, a .178 hitting percentage, 194 assists, 43 aces, 289 digs and 105 total blocks during his three seasons as a Golden Eagle.

Max Senica, also an outside hitter for the Golden Eagles, has signed to play with Nordenskov UIF, also a professional club located in Denmark. In his time at the University of Charleston, Senica totaled 486 kills, a .215 hitting percentage, 319 digs, 83 total blocks and 496.5 total points in his three seasons with the Golden Eagles.

Eugene Stuart was the first UC men's volleyball player to ever sign a professional contract following his collegiate career. He signed to play with Karelian Hurmos a professional team out of Finland. As of right now, he is in between teams as he is looking to sign a contract with another team soon. As a Golden Eagle Stuart, a middle blocker, totaled 412 kills, a .284 hitting percentage, 215 total blocks and 597.5 total points in his three years at Charleston.

Head coach Michael Iandolo is very excited about the opportunity that his former players have to play overseas. "I think it's awesome. The experience of living in another country and playing at that level, meeting a ton of different people, I think it is something that is special," he said.

These three have helped put Charleston on the map in terms of getting players signed to play professional ball. Coach Iandolo is excited for what is to come for these three and is looking forward to helping many more future Golden Eagles take that next step towards playing professionally.
