CHARLESTON, W. Va. - The University of Charleston Golden Eagles Women's Basketball team (5-0, 5-0 MEC) defeated David & Elkins College (1-3,1-3 MEC) Wednesday night, taking an 84-55 victory, led by Brooklyn Pannell with 32 points for the Golden Eagles.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Golden Eagles commanded the lead five minutes into the contest with a fast break jumper by Brooklyn Pannell. With just under a minute to play, Dakota Reeves hits a three-pointer making the score 27-14 in favor of the visitors. Allie Taylor scored a three pointer to try to bring the senators back into the game on the next possession. The Golden Eagles closed the first frame with a free-throw from Erykah Russell to give the Golden Eagles a 14-point lead heading into the second quarter
Coming out of the break the Golden Eagles went on a 7-0 run to post a 35-16 lead three minutes into the 2nd Quarter. After a jumper from Erykah Russell, UC took a 37-18 lead over the hosts. Brooklyn Maxwell fired back for D&E with a jumper inside the paint. Also, with under 5 minutes left in the first half the Golden Eagles went on a 12-6 run to obtain a 22-point lead heading into the second half with the score 46-24.
Charleston opened up the scoring in the second half with a bucket from Russell. The Golden Eagles got jumped 7-point lead just two minutes into third quarter. After, a jumper from Zakharova, the Golden Eagles claimed 53-24 lead. On the next possession, Jamiyah Johnson notched a bucked from the paint to give David & Elkins their first bucket of second half. With under two minutes left, Brooklyn Pannell hit a pair of jumpers to bring the score 70-33.
Heading into the fourth quarter, the Senators scored the first bucket on a fastbreak from Maxwell. The Golden Eagles answered with a jumper by Trinity Palacio. The Senators went on an 8-0 run to cut the Golden Eagles lead. The Golden Eagles, however clung to their lead and took home their fifth straight victory over the Senators.
