Salisbury, NC- The Golden Eagle Men's Basketball team played a nailbiter in Elizabeth City vs the Vikings of Elizabeth City State University. They would use a early second half momentum swing to roll past the Vikings.

How it Happened
 
The Golden Eagles came into the Wednesday night game fresh off a win against St. Augustine from Saturday.
 
The first half had some back and forth action as no team could seem to pull away. With 8:49 left in the first half Charleston looked to gain some ground and pull away when Keith Williams collected a steal and a fastbreak layup to make it 22-13 Golden Eagles. However, the Vikings would quickly answer with a three of their own to bring the Golden Eagle lead down to just seven. Later in the half the Vikings would cut the lead to one before Charleston would go on a 8-1 run to end the half. Charleston led 32-26 at the break.
 
The first half saw the Golden Eagles outshoot the Vikings from the floor making 50% of shots while ECSU made just 32%. Eddie Colbert collected eleven points and five boards, while Keith Williams had seven first half points.
 
Charleston opened up the second half with an 8-0 run that would put them in the driver's seat for the rest of the half. However, ECSU would battle back late in the half and would cut the lead to just seven with a minute left to play. As usual the Vikings played the foul game and would push to within three with nine seconds left to play. A made free throw by Keith Williams would seal the game as he put the Golden Eagles up four with six seconds left.
 
Charleston would take the game 63-61 with Eddie Colbert leading in both points(18) and rebounds (10). Keith Williams added twelve points shooting 40% from the floor and 75% from the foul line. Kobey Lam and Isiah Gable added eight points in the winning effort for the Golden Eagles.
 
Charleston shot 45% from the floor and 23% from beyond the arch while converting 75% of their free throw opportunities on the night.
