Women's Soccer Blows Out Yellow Jackets To Finish Regular Season

Charleston, W.Va- The Golden Eagle Women's Soccer team wrapped up their regular season with nine consecutive wins and a rain of goals over the Yellow Jackets 9-1 on Saturday night.

How it Happened
The Golden Eagles took advantage in the first half scoring 7 goals. Todd Diuguid's team struggled to maintain possession for the first 5 minutes of the game, but were able to recover and started a scoring frenzy shortly after.
 
In the 5th minute Keira Hill opened the party for the Golden Eagles taking advantage of a great cross served by Roberta Pomi. After that, the Golden Eagles scored 6 more goals in the first half: Sydney Cavender in the 12th minute, two by Madison Hansen in the 16th minute, Kate Eddy in the 22nd minute, Laura Vierhout in the 28th minute, and the goalkeeper Kaylee Hensley, with her first goal of her collegiate career, in the 34th minute. 
 
Coach Diuguid decided to give space to the rest of the team in the second half and they scored two more goals, Bayley Meade in the 53rd minute, and Madison Spears in the 55th minute.
 
Finally, the Yellow Jackets found a consolation goal in the 64th minute by Ammy Mwasambua.
 
UC shot 27 times, with 19 on goal, while the Yellow Jackets shot just 2 times capitalizing only once.
 
An overall of forty-two fouls were called, and WVSU was responsible for twenty-five of them collecting six yellow cards and one red card.

The Golden Eagles and the Yellow Jackets will match up again on Tuesday, Nov 9 opening up the MEC Tournament. The match will be played at the Welch Athletic Complex with the kick-off at 5pm. `
