Men's Basketball Makes It Seven Straight in Rout Over Frostburg

Frostburg, Md- Over the course of the last four contests, the University of Charleston men's basketball team has never trailed.  That streak was broken when they traveled to Frostburg State University, where they trailed for 15 seconds.  After allowing a basket to the host on the game's opening possession, UC scored seven consecutive points and would never trail as they would route the Bobcats 103-71 Saturday afternoon.

How it Happened 
The Bobcats would get it back to as close as one a few minutes later at 9-8 before the Golden Eagles used a 12-3 run fueled by five Kobey Lam points to go up 21-11 with 13 minutes left in the opening half.  UC would continue to lead over the next 10 minutes by margins as high as 11 and as low as four.  Leading 35-31 with 2:35 to play in the first stanza, the Golden Eagles used a 7-0 run to close the half and lead 42-31 at intermission.
 
UC blew open the game right out of the gate in the second half with a 14-3 run over the first five minutes to lead 56-34 with 15:00 to play.  Frostburg would get no closer than 18 the rest of the way and the Golden Eagles would lead by as many as 36 before settling on a 103-71 road win.
 
UC shot a blistering 60.6% from the field for the afternoon while locking things down defensively as well, holding Frostburg to just 41.5% shooting.  The Golden Eagles also dominated the glass as they held a 41-20 advantage. Finally, UC overwhelmed the host Bobcats by an astounding 72-28 margin on points in the paint.
 
Individually, all 11 UC players who dressed for the contest scored.  Shunta Wilson paced UC in scoring for the second time this season as he posted a game high 19 points.  He just missed a double-double as he collected nine rebounds.
 
Eddie Colbert and Lamont McManus each added 17 points.  Eddie Colbert posted the lone double-double of the day as he added 10 rebounds. Isaiah Gable contributed 10 points to round out the double-digit scorers on the day.
 
With their seventh consecutive win, UC now stands at 7-1 on the season overall and 4-0 in conference play.

They will return to action during the middle of final exam week on Wednesday as they travel to face off against #14 West Liberty. Game time is set for 7:00pm.
