ELKINS, W. Va. – The University of Charleston Women's Tennis team traveled to Davis & Elkins University on Wednesday afternoon to open up conference play, defeating the Senators 7-0. With a mix in the lineup from the usual, Charleston began the day with
Julia Lif and
Haarini Balakrishnan at #1 doubles,
Mikenzie Hindenlang and
Meggan William at number #2, and
Emelina Alvarez and
Aida Mariana Montero at number #3. All three pairs won their matches, winning 6-2, 6-1, and 6-2 respectively.
Heading into singles, the positive vibes from doubles carried on, allowing William to capture the first win of the day in straight sets (6-1, 6–1). Drouin was then victorious at #1, winning (6-2, 6-1). Balakrishnan battled and got her win 6-3, 6-4, followed by Lif who competed well and won 6-4, 6-1. At the 5/6 singles,
Regina Saucedo won with a bagel score of 6-0 6-0, and Montero finished off strong 6-1 6-0.
