LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The University of Charleston Women's Tennis team defeated Division I Bellarmine University on Wednesday afternoon at Eddie Webber Tennis Center, winning the match 7-0. 
 
Charleston went into the doubles needing just one win at either 1^st or 2^nd doubles to secure the point as Bellarmine could only field 5 ladies for today's match. The eagles got off to a quick start in doubles winning both 1^st and 2^nd doubles respectively. #1 doubles Lif/Singh and #2 doubles Swann/Drouin both took control off their matches winning 6-4 and 6-3. 
 
Charleston went into the singles matches leading 2-0 as they received a walkover at #6 singles spot. The Eagles quickly secured the match with wins by #1 Singh (6-2, 6-0), and #4 Balakrishnan (6-3, 6-4) After a tight first set, #2 Drouin took control of the match to win (7-6, 6-1).
 
#5 singles was a battle for the Eagles as Lif came out on top of the big points to win (6-3, 6-2). Finally, the Golden Eagles got the 7^th point of the match winning at #3 singles. Balancho, bounced back after a close second set to secure a convincing victory for Charleston Women in the third set (6-3, 4-6, 6-2). 
 
The Golden Eagles, who have been ranked #1 in the Atlantic Region will have two tough tests this week as they face both #8 in the region Bluefield State and #3 Slippery Rock on the road this weekend. 
 
With the win UC has an overall record of 5-2.
