CHARLESTON, W. Va. — The University of Charleston Golden Eagles split their series with the Wheeling University Cardinals on Wednesday afternoon. Charleston took game one with a score of 4-2, but fell in game two 1-3 to the hosts.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1:
After two scoreless innings from both sides, the Golden Eagles scored the first two runs of the contest on a double from Megan Eder followed by a single from Alyssa Lake.
In the top of the fourth Brionna Bowman doubled to center field so send Hannah Rose home for the 3-0 lead. Kendal Marshall then crossed home plate on a SAC fly from Karli Pinkerton giving Charleston the 4-0 advantage.
The Cardinals tacked on two runs late but it wasn't enough to overcome the Golden Eagles who took the 4-2 win.
Danielle Bauer took win number eight of the season.
Game 2:
It was the Cardinals who scored early in game two taking the 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first, but Charleston answered on a single from Kendall Marshall in the top of the second to tie the game up 1-1.
A homer from Oehlstrom game the Cardinals the 2-1 lead in the bottom of the third, and Wheeling sealed their victory in the bottom of the fifth on a double from Florczak.
Wheeling took the game 2 win, 3-1.
UP NEXT
Charleston will host the Alderson Broaddus Battlers on Saturday in a double-header set to begin at 2:00 p.m.
