How it Happened
- In what would go down as a pitcher's duel, it was Charleston starting pitcher Austin Henrich who got the better of Adam Riggleman, who would go down as the tough-luck loser in game one on Sunday.
- The Pioneers got on the board first after Duane Englund and the Pioneers completed a successful suicide squeeze in the first inning to take an early 1-0 lead.
- In the third, the Golden Eagles put the offense in motion as Drew Hefner singled home Hayden Cartt to tie the game up at one.
- In the sixth, Ryker Rivera recorded a sacrifice fly which brought home Zach Morris to put the Pioneers ahead 2-1. Henrich would work out of any potential trouble and completed the seventh inning to keep the game within striking distance for the Golden Eagles.
- In the bottom of the seventh, Riggleman surrendered ta pair of walks to begin the inning which brought on Nick Shumek. Before Shumek was even able to deliver a pitch, the redshirt balked to put the game-winning run into scoring position with no outs.
- After Bryce Toussaint walked to load the bases following passed ball which brought home Cartt to tie the game, Hefner was intentionally walked which was followed up by a walk off walk from Tyler Dellerman which captured victory for Charleston.
- Austin Henrich finished the game on the mound logging 7.0 innings, allowing just two runs on four hits while striking out seven and walking none.
