CHARLESTON, W. Va. – The University of Charleston Lacrosse team fell in the MEC Semifinal round on Tuesday afternoon, dropping their first-round contest to Notre Dame 15-10 at Mueller Field. After holding the Falcons to just two first half goals, Notre Dame was able to outscore the Golden Eagles 13-6 in the second half.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The Golden Eagles defensive efficiency in the first half allowed the visitors to hold the Falcons to just two goals, and none in the first 17 minutes of play. McKenna Kincaid got the offense going for Charleston, scoring on a goal assisted by MEC Offensive Player of the Year Elishia Davis in the 7
th minute of the game to put Charleston ahead. Eight minutes later, it was Davis who scored her first of the game to put Charleston ahead 2-0 before Kayleigh Burns scored with 13 minutes remaining in the half for a 3-0 advantage.
The Falcons would go on to score two of the next three goals to end the half with Charleston ahead 4-2. Charleston led the statistical advantage in shots, clears, and draw controls in the first half.
The Falcons came out in the second half and scored five of the first six goals, and eight of the first 11 to take a 10-7 lead at the halfway mark in the half. A pair of goals from Burns cut the Golden Eagle deficit to just one goal with 12 minutes remaining in the contest, but four unanswered goals from Notre Dame over the final seven minutes of the game allowed the top-seeded Falcons to advance to the championship round with a 15-10 victory.
Charleston outshot the Falcons in the second frame (21-20), but Notre Dame outshot Charleston on net. The Falcons also led in ground balls and held the advantage in draw controls in the second half. Burns was the leading scorer, notching four goals while Davis & Kincaid scored a pair each.
Georgia Ryan finished the game with eight saves in goal while Falcon keeper Mackenzie Levine finished with 13.
