Charleston Downs Bobcats in Thrilling Double Overtime Victory

BUCKHANNON, W. Va. — The University of Charleston Golden Eagles took home victory this afternoon in double overtime in their MEC road match against the West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats. 

THE BASICS
Location: Buckhannon, W. Va.
Score: Charleston 2, WVWC 1
Records: Golden Eagles (4-1-0, 3-1-0 MEC); WVWC 3-1-0, 2-1-0 MEC)  

Alejandro Larrayoz got the ball rolling for the Golden Eagles in the ninth minute with the assist from Luis Maestre. 

The Charleston defense remained strong holding the hosts at bay until the 65th minute when Zacharaias Kohring evened the score for the Bobcats. The score remained tied until 108th minute in the second overtime when Eduardo Barros hit the game winner for Charleston making the final score 2-1. 

Charleston outshot their opponents 16-5, and held an 8-5 advantage in corner kicks. Marc Torrado notched all 107 minutes for the Golden Talge with two saves in the contest. 

UP NEXT
The Golden Eagles hit the road on Sunday to take on the West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats.
