How It Happened
To start the match off, Glenville State was able to get out to a quick 15-9 lead before the Golden Eagles were able to pull even at 17. The first set would go into extra points, but the Golden Eagles would end the extra point section fairly quickly. With the score knotted at 25, Sage Bearnson was able to get a kill and the Pioneers had an attack error. The Golden Eagles took the set 27-25.

The second set, much like the first set, saw UC fall behind early. Glenville State stormed out to a 19-10 lead, but just like the first set, the Golden Eagles were able to claw their way back into the set. This time, Charleston had their backs against the wall, but were able to rattle off 6 consecutive points, 3 of which were kills by Bearnson. Unfortunately, the Golden Eagles, were not able to complete the comeback and dropped the set 28-26.

The third set had a little different of a script, this time with Charleston jumping out in front early, taking a 16-10 lead. UC would then pile on in the set going on to win it 25-13 on a kill by McKenzie Damon. This set was similar to the third as the Golden Eagles were able to capitalize on the momentum gained in the fourth set and jump out to an 11-5 lead. The Golden Eagles continued to dominate the set, taking it 25-17, and winning the match 3-1.

Charleston improves to 17-2, (4-0 MEC). Damon (12), Bearnson (11), and Pia Selke (10) all lead the way with double-digit kills in the match. Maria Hernandez dished out 35 assists. Hernandex led defensively with 18 digs to complete her double-double. Damon also recorded a double-double with her 14 digs, as well.
