How it Happened
The Golden Eagles were in full swing on Wednesday night, and Madison Hansen would be the first to strike to get the eight-goal party started. In the 12th minute of play, Hansen set up for a free kick just outside the box on the far side. Despite the tough angle for the right-footed veteran, she snuck the ball into the far-post corner and took the 1-0 advantage in the early going.

The next goal of the day came from the hat-trick hero herself, Laura Vierhout. In the 37th minute, Linsey Hackney played the ball directly in front of the goal and Vierhout was given the easy tap in to put the Golden Eagles up 2-0.

Just three minutes later, Madison Hansen found her teammate's head on a free kick from over 40 yards away and Vierhout sent the ball over the keeper extending the lead to 3-0. Two minutes after, the Netherlands native would complete her hat-trick. Linsey Hackney played a curling ball in the box and found Vierhout ready for the header. Just like her previous attempt, the ball was sent to the back of the net and the Golden Eagles would take a crushing 4-0 lead, but they weren't done just yet.

Just before the horn, Linsey Hackney would steal one in the 44th minute as she rolled her shot around the keeper for the 5-0 advantage.

After the break, Sydney Cavender would pick the offense up right where they left off. A great pass played in from Katy O'Reilly left Cavender no choice but to tap the ball in just in front of the goal to increase the margin to 6-0.

In the 54th minute, Cavender found her second of the day on a fast break. After the ball rattled around in the box between defenders, Cavender sent a rocket through multiple defenders and found the net for the 7-0 lead.

The eighth and final goal for the Golden Eagles came from a freshmen duo that will be exciting to watch for seasons to come. Anna Gregor found Linsey Hackney on a great through ball into the box and Hackney, who was contempt but her second as well as her shot rolled into the net to put Charleston up 8-0.

Charleston would concede a goal in the 75th minute, but the Golden Eagles would take this conference matchup with a final score of 8-1.
