Both UC Cross-Country Teams Finished First Overall at the Atlantic Regional Championship

MANSFIELD, P.a. – The University of Charleston cross-country teams headed to Mansfield, Pennsylvania this past Saturday to compete in the NCAA Atlantic Regional Championship. Charleston's women cross-country team won their first-ever regional championship. The UC men's team also took home their fourth-consecutive regional championship. 
 
Women
UC is the first women's cross-country program in the MEC to win the NCAA Atlantic Region Championship.The Golden Eagles were crowned champions with 52 points, as second place winner, Edinboro had 84 points. 
 
Elise Leveel recorded an overall time of 21:48.3, a 5:51 pace, and finished third overall behind Edinboro's Kylie Anicic and Kimberly Goerss. 
 
Additionally, Flora Tissier was a Top-10 finisher, with a seventh-place finish at 22:12.1. Top-25 UC women finishers included Mercy Jepleting (22:25.7), Lily Dowdell (22:31.4), Julie Lafare (22:48.6), and Madison Woolwine (23:06.5).

Men
UC won their fourth-consecutive regional championship as the Golden Eagles placed three runners in the Top-5. 
 
Charleston's Thomas Termote (29:28.4) and Alejandro Abellaneda (29:29.8) finished second and third, after Concord's Isaac Prather won his second-consecutive individual regional championship. Joao Pereira placed fifth with an overall time of 29:34.4.

Both Charleston teams have earned automatic qualifications to the NCAA National Championships, which are set for Friday, December 2nd at Chambers Creek Regional Park in University Place, Washington (hosted by Seattle Pacific University).
