How it Happened
The morning game was a rematch with Gannon. Charleston shut them out 2-0 on Monday, but the Golden Knights take this one by a score of 4-2.
UC would strike first in the bottom of the first inning. Hannah Rose led off the inning with a double down the left field line. With two outs, Gracie Donato served an RBI single to right field for a 1-0 advantage.
Starting pitcher Dani Bauer was cruising through the Gannon order until the top of the fourth. With two out in the fourth, Katie Sidare had her bat sawed off, but it flared down on to the chalk of the left field line for a single. Lily Gfeller followed up with a slicing double that hit the chalk on the right field line to knot the game at one. Starting pitcher, Kennedy DeMatteis would help her own cause with a single to right to give Gannon the lead.
Gannon would pick up an unearned insurance run in the top of the sixth. In the bottom half of the inning, Allysa Lake would get that run back as she lined a DeMatteis offering over the fence in left center. Charleston would not threaten again.

How it Happened
In her 30th season as a head Coach, Michelle Frew earned win number 1,000 as UC defeated the University of Mary 10-1 in Winter Haven, Florida. Coach Frew's collegiate career record stands at 1,000-456-1 for a .687 winning percentage.
The Charleston offense was rolling early as they jumped to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first. After Hannah Rose walked and stole second base, Kendal Marshall earned a free pass. Allysa Lake then stepped into the batter's box and drove a sharply lined single up the middle for the first run of the game. Gracie Donato was then walked to load up the bases. Mikayla Ferguson was then plunked by pitcher Nichole Eckhardt to score another run. The scoring in the big first inning was closed out by Dani DeBenedictis as she drove in two with a base hit to right center.
The Golden Eagles would put the game out of reach with a six-run fifth inning. The relief pitcher for the Marauders struggled with her control as she walked four and hit a batter. Sandwiched among the free passes was an RBI single by Brionna Bowman. The score ballooned to a 7-1 UC lead prompting a pitching change.
Starting pitcher Eckhardt reentered the ballgame and allowed another run as she hit Allysa Lake squarely in the back with the bases juiced. Gracie Donato then blasted a fly ball to deep center field to bring in Hannah Rose for the ninth run. The scoring closed out with Reagan West's RBI ground out.
Morgan Hoppe had all the run support she would need as she cruised to her third consecutive victory. She surrendered only three hits and struck out five. The only blemish was an unearned run in the fourth inning. She continues to stay hot in Florida, as she has only given up two earned runs in 16.1 innings of work.

The Golden Eagles will close out their spring break trip in Auburndale, Florida on Friday, March 4th. Game one's first pitch is slated for 10:00am against Georgian Court In game two, UC will square off with Pittsburg State at 12:15.
