How it Happened
In a match up with Pittsburg State, Morgan Hoppe was having another strong performance in Florida. She was cruising along until the fifth inning when she let a pitch get too much of the zone and Paxtyn Hayes took advantage, driving it over the right center field fence to give the Gorillas a 2-0 lead.

Charleston would strike back in the bottom of the sixth inning. Hannah Rose, once again, sparked the offense with a leadoff bunt single. After a Carlie Odejewski pop out to short, Allysa Lake and Gracie Donato put together consecutive singles to load the bases. Mikayla Ferguson worked a bases loaded walk to tighten the score to 2-1 which also triggered a pitching change for the Gorillas. Kendal Marshall did not welcome the reliever kindly as she doubled to left field to give UC their first lead, 3-2.

Hoppe returned for the top of the seventh, but after a lead off walk, she was replaced by Dani Bauer. Pittsburg State ended up scoring five in the frame after piling up three hits and forcing a UC error to retake the lead, 7-3. UC would go down quietly in the bottom of the seventh.
