How it Happened
Game One
After several schedule changes, Charleston would finally face off at home against the Bobcats of West Virginia Wesleyan on a gloomy Monday afternoon matchup.

To start game one, it was Dani Bauer in the circle for the Golden Eagles. She would quickly sit down the Bobcats in order to give her team a chance at taking an early lead. Hannah Rose tallied the first hit of the game, scorching a double to the left center gap. Rose quickly stole third, giving the Golden Eagles a chance to score with one out in the first. Good pitching by the Bobcats, Hannah Hudson, would get Wesleyan out of the jam and send them back up to the plate with the score still knotted at 0-0.

Both teams struggled to get anything going on offense in the next two innings. That would change after a Carlie Odejewski infield single and steal of second.  Lead off hitter and MEC's front-runner for player of the year, Hannah Rose, gave Charleston their only lead after she plated the speedy, sophomore on her second hit of the game.

Wesleyan would not go down quiet in the top of the fourth. A few singles by Norris and Robinson for the Bobcats would set the stage for Taylor Swartz. Swartz blasted a Bauer pitch over the right center fence to give Wesleyan a 3-1 lead. Charleston's Gracie Donato would lead off the bottom of the fourth with a single to center field. Pinch runner Lindsey Reavis would take over for Donato, but her time on the base paths would be cut short as a bunt by Reagan West would force her out at second on the fielder's choice. Charleston would get another hit in the inning by Emma Groe on a single to left field, putting West and Groe on first and second. Seconds later, a throwing error by the catcher would advance West and Groe up a bag, but the threat was silenced as Hudson sat down quickly sat down Brionna Bowman with a strikeout.

The scoring would continue for the Bobcats in the fifth as lead off batter, Gracie Hightower, started the inning with a single to right field, followed by an error which allowed Hightower to advance all the way to third base. The next batter, Molly Osborne, hit a sacrifice fly to center field, allowing Hightower to score easily. Heading back out to the circle, Hudson had a quick inning, sitting down the Charleston hitters in order.

Charleston was only able to muster up one more hit in the game, which would not be enough to overcome the 4-1 deficit. Hannah Hudson improved to 10-3 on the season, allowing only one run on six hits in seven innings. Bauer fell to 9-10 on the season.

Game Two
Sophomore Morgan Hoppe would take the circle for the Golden Eagles in game two of the double header and would quickly sit down the Bobcats in order, passing the bats to her Charleston offense. Hannah Rose would kick off the game once again with a hit followed with a stolen base to put herself in scoring position on second for senior, Kendal Marshall. Marshall singled, sending Rose racing around the bases headed for home, but the Bobcats would cut down the runner at home, stopping the Golden Eagles from platting a run on the hit. On the throw home, Marshall was able to advance to third, giving Allysa Lake a chance for an RBI as she stepped up to the plate. Lake would do just that, as all it took was a grounder to the shortstop to plate Marshall to give Charleston the early lead.

The second and third inning were scoreless as neither side could do much at the plate. The top of the fourth would change that as pinch hitter, Gracie Payne, would single to give the Bobcats a baserunner. Alli Robinson followed that with a single to left field, giving Wesleyan runners on first and second with only one out. It would be the bat of Taylor Swartz again that gave the Bobcats their first run of game two. Swartz hit a ball to third that skipped off the glove of Bowman, allowing Payne to score from second on the error. Heading to the bottom of the fourth, the game was all tied up at 1-1.

Once again, the bats were kept quiet for both sides until the top of the sixth, when the Bobcats showed signs of life. With two outs, Taylor Swartz worked a walk off Hoppe to give the Bobcats a baserunner. Destiny Alva would follow the walk with a single, advancing Swartz to third. With runners on the corners, the Bobcats would send pinch hitter Kaitlyn Rizor to the plate. After working the count, Rizor would poke a single to left field, giving the Bobcats the go ahead run, making the game 2-1.

The Rizor RBI would be the decider in the night cap, as Charleston could not get a run across in the sixth or seventh inning. Abigail O'Shields improved to 7-3 with the win over Charleston's Morgan Hoppe who fell to 8-4 on the year.
