Charleston, W. Va – The University of Charleston Men's volleyball team hosted Saint Francis University Saturday night. The Golden Eagles honored their senior players, Douglas Florencio and Arthur Sueur before the first serve. Although the match was very tight, Charleston railed to take the match by set score of 3 – 1 with Seuer collecting a kill on the final swing of his college career.

How it Happened
The night began with the introduction of the departing seniors for the University of Charleston, Douglas Florencio and Arthur Sueur, along with assistant coach, Adam Hamad. The Golden Eagle family wishes them the best with their future endeavors.
The first set was filled with action on both sides of the net. The Golden Eagles battled with the Red Flash throughout the entirety of the set and after much back-and-forth Charleston took the set by a score of 25 – 23. Lachlan Bray and Jake Vorburger recorded three kills each, while Diego Villafane provided the Golden Eagles with 12 assists in addition to his two kills.
The second set saw a different result for the University of Charleston. Jake Vorburger continued to dominate the kills for the Golden Eagles as he tallied six kills in the set. Errors on the attacking end killed Charleston as they recorded eight errors, along with four service errors. The Red Flash closed out the set winning the last eight points, to take the set by a score of 25 – 17.
The third set began with another kill from Jake Vorburger, who tallied three in the set. Lachlan Bray and Jakub Osiewala provided the Golden Eagles with key kills to break the set tie and move one step closer to victory. After a red card was shown to head coach, Luke Reynolds to make the score, 18 – 17 Charleston sparked a run to close out the set. Osiewala aced the Red Flash on the last point to take the set for the Golden Eagles by a score of 25 – 21.
The fourth and final set saw the Golden Eagles take the match by a set score of three to one. Jake Vorburger and Lachlan Bray contributed their fair share of kills in the match, but seniors Arthur Sueur and Douglas Florencio provided three kills down the stretch to boost the Golden Eagles to victory. Charleston took the final set by a score of 26 – 24.
Jake Vorburger led the Golden Eagles with 17 kills (and 15 digs), just in front of Lachlan Bray who finished with 11 kills. Diego Villafane did his normal thing and provided the team with assists, tallying 42 for the match. This matchup was the Golden Eagle's last test of the year.

After closing their season with a victory, the men's volleyball team finished their season with their final record being 9 – 14 and their EIVA conference record standing at 5 – 11. Unfortunately, the Golden Eagles will not be advancing to post season play this season.
