CHARLESTON W.Va- The Men's Volleyball team suffered their eighth straight defeat at the hands of George Mason on Friday night.
After a 12 day hiatus, the Golden Eagles returned to action prepared to put up a fight to EIVA opponent George Mason. Charleston desperatetly needs to salvage at least one game in the two game set, but will have to wait until tomorrow to do so.
In set number one Charleston struggled to convert on attacking chances. They hit just .114 to the Patriots' .379 while committing 9 errors. They would find themselves in an early hole down one set to none after falling 25-20.
In set two, the Golden Eagles were led by Garret Schnitker who collected six kills throughout the second. Charleston would find a way to finish out the second with Schnitker's sixth smash of the set, which knotted up the set score at one apiece.
Hudson Harris was efficient during the match collecting six kills on nine attempts and boasting a .667 hitting percentage. Despite Hudson's best efforts, Charleston would again make several attack and service errors that ended up costing them. They dropped the third set 25-16 and fell behind 2-1 in the match.
Another poor effort on offense in the fourth set netted the Patriots the win in the final set of the evening by a final score of 25-15. For the Golden Eagles it marked their eighth straight loss and their ninth defeat in EIVA play.
They will return to action on Saturday, April 2 at 5 p.m. in the H. Bernard Wehrle Senior Athletic Arena in a rematch against the Patriots.
