CHARLESTON, W.Va – The Golden Eagle Women's Lacrosse team finished their home schedule in 2022 with a loss to Frostburg State on Sunday, April 24.
How it Happened
The Golden Eagles struggled on offense throughout the game as they were outscored 17-3 in the first three quarters of action. UC would keep the score tied at 1 for the first five minutes of the game before giving up four unanswered goals to the Bobcats to end the period.
The Bobcats would continue to apply pressure to the shorthanded Golden Eagles and take an 8-1 lead with 10 minutes to go in the second quarter.
Destiny Jackson and
Sophia Conzone would notch two goals in the second to bring the score to 8-3 but UC was unable to continue their surge.
The Bobcats had an 11-3 lead at the sound of the halftime horn and UC would make an effort to regroup in the second half. However, Charleston would not find the back of the net once in the third quarter, and Frostburg continued to pour it on late.
UC added four goals in the fourth quarter to bring the score to 19-7 in the end.
Gianni Blundell added two goals in the final seven minutes but it would not be enough.
The Bobcats would move to 7-6 on the season and 5-1 in MEC play while Charleston fell to 5-7 overall and 3-3 in conference. The Golden Eagles travel to South Euclid on Wednesday to take on the Falcons of Notre Dame College.
