Bridgeport, W. Va – UC's
Pau Sanchez was announced as the winner of the Mountain East's Co-Golfer of the Week on Thursday, September 14.
Â
Sanchez, a young talent out of Barcelona, earned his first of what may become a long list of Mountain East Conference honors on Thursday. Competing at the number one spot for the Golden Eagles, the freshman opened UC's home invitational on Monday by carding a tournament best 69 (-2). Beginning on the first hole at Edgewood CC, UC's home track, Sanchez would finish the front nine at -1. His back nine was a bit of an up and down as he would birdie 10 before making a double bogey six on hole 11. He righted the ship, making birdies on two of the next three par fives putting him into the clubhouse tied for the lead at -2 after 18 holes.

The second 18 saw Sanchez navigate Edgewood's front nine expertly once again. He made back-to-back birdies on holes 4 and 5. Sanchez was -3 on the front for the tournament, making half of his birdies on those holes. He played the back nine at +1 on Tuesday, making an unfortunate bogey on the tricky par 3 14
