Golden Eagles Continue to Roll as They Pick Up Tenth Straight Win

Frostburg, Md. – The Golden Eagles men's basketball team extends their win streak to ten with victory over the Bobcats of Frostburg State on the road Wednesday night.

The Basics:
Location: Bobcat Arena
Score: UC  71, FSU 53
Records: UC 14-5 (11-2 MEC), FSU 5-14 (1-12 MEC)

How it Happened:
The Golden Eagles were efficient with the ball tonight, shooting nearly 50% (48.8%) in their 43 attempts. Charleston also capitalized on their free point attempts, making 20-24 from the line compared to Frostburg who only made 9-15.

To start the match, Frostburg State wont the tip and were first to score, but the Golden Eagles answered back with seven straight points to take the lead over the Bobcats. Over the next few minutes, the Bobcats scored four unanswered taking the lead back from Charleston but that would be the last time Frostburg would lead for the remainder of the contest. Charleston went on to score two three pointers followed up by Eddie Colbert III's three foul shots after being fouled behind the arc to take an eight-point lead at the under ten media timeout.

For the next several minutes, both teams traded a few buckets, but around the six-minute mark is where Charleston turned on the burners and began to pull away. A defensive rebound followed up by a dunk from Tyler Eberhart gave the Golden Eagles a thirteen-point lead when the under five media timeout was called. After the timeout, Eberhart was sent to the line after being fouled and put up two more points for the Golden Eagles.

In the last five minutes of the half Frostburg was able to cut the deficit to eleven as both teams entered the locker rooms, 32-21 Charleston. The Golden Eagles were 11-22, shooting 50%, and were perfect from the free-throw line making 6-6.

Keith Williams was on fire for the Golden Eagles to open the second half, hitting 3 threes in a row. Frostburg State brought the score back within ten, but that was as close as Charleston would let them get. The Bobcats fought hard, but Charleston simply out shot them in the contest, taking the final score 71-53.

Charleston grabbed thirty boards in the contest, nine of which belonged to Eddie Colbert III. Keith Williams put up 21 points with a 67% shooting percentage and went 5-6 from beyond the arc.
