Eddie Colbert III Picks up 1,000th Career Point in Victory over West Virginia Wesleyan

Charleston, W.Va. – The Golden Eagles men's basketball team picked up their first win of the new year with a victory over the Bobcats of West Virginia Wesleyan College.

How it Happened:
From tip off to the final buzzer, the Charleston Golden Eagles controlled the tempo over the Bobcats in the Wednesday night match up. Charleston jumped out to an early lead thanks to four three-pointers in the first five minutes.
 
Taking full advantage of the Bobcats shooting struggles, Charleston lead 27-10 at the first media timeout. CJ Meredith contributed eleven of the Golden Eagles points in their seventeen-point lead. With 4:32 left in the half, Eddie Colbert III sank a three, giving the junior forward his 1,000th career point.
 
From there, Charleston's lead continued to grow for the remainder of the half, entering the locker room at half time with a comfortable twenty-six-point advantage with the score at 47-21.
 
In the second half, the Bobcats got back within twenty around the ten-minute media timeout, but Charleston quickly changed the narrative as they went on another hot streak hitting three three-pointers in a row.
 
Charleston maintained their lead for the remainder of the game closing out the West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats 82-75. The Golden Eagles shot 51.8% from the field in the victory. CJ Meredith led Charleston with fifteen points followed by Keaton Turner with thirteen. Junior forward Eddie Colbert III picked up his 1,000th career point in the contest.

Charleston will travel to Elkins, West Virginia on Saturday, January 7th to take on Mountain East Conference opponent Davis & Elkins set for a 4:00PM tip-off.
