Box Score Wheeling, W.Va. – The Golden Eagles defeated the Wheeling Cardinals in a Saturday afternoon Mountain East Conference match for their tenth win of the 2023 season.

How it Happened:
Entering the Saturday afternoon match, Charleston was looking for their tenth victory of the season while the Wheeling Cardinals were looking to pick up their first. From the first whistle, the Golden Eagles dominated possession, but with the heavily packed defense of the Cardinals, the game was scoreless for the first twenty minutes.
The Golden Eagles eventually broke open the scoring with a
Franco Tradatti goal in the twenty-third minute with a shot from about twenty yards out.
The next goal of the match came by way of set piece. A free kick near the far corner taken by
Franco Tradatti found
Juan Hermoso in the middle of the box who headed in Charleston's second goal of the half.
Nearing the end of the half, Charleston's
Joao Belmudes took the ball up the left wing, but after dribbling past several Cardinals, a Wheeling defender brought
Belmudes to the turf inside the eighteen-yard box, forcing the referee to award Charleston a penalty.
Belmudes stepped up to the spot, and with a slow trot sent the keeper diving one direction and sending the ball the other. The goal gave the Golden Eagles the 3-0 advantage heading into the locker rooms at halftime.
Seven minutes into the second half, Charleston was given a corner kick opportunity.
Franco Tradatti would take the corner and once again found the head of
Juan Hermoso near the back past.
Hermoso found the back of net giving Charleston the 4-0 lead over Wheeling.
The Golden Eagles went on to take the match 4-0 over Wheeling, picking up their tenth victory of the 2023 season.
Hermoso found the back of the net twice in the match and
Tradatti had two assists and a goal.
