Erie, Pa – On Wednesday evening, the Golden Eagles faced the Gannon Golden Knights for an MEC/PSAC matchup. Gannon came into this game after a win over MEC opponent Notre Dame College by way of 108-56. Charleston and Gannon last faced each other in the NCAA Atlantic Region Quarterfinal where the Golden Eagles escaped the Waco Center with a 69-65 victory.

How it Happened
It almost seemed like the Golden Knights could not miss as they would shoot 64% from the field (37-58) and nearly 40% from beyond the arc. Gannon's Samantha Pirosko would lead the way throughout the night with 28 total points shooting 11-13 from the field and finding three blocks on the other end of the court. Charleston was led by Taylor Austin with her 14 points and four rebounds, adding a steal and two assists to her stat line.
The game opened up as a tight contest between the two teams, but at the 4:30 minute mark in the opening period Gannon would go on a 12-4 run to end the period with a large 21-13 lead over the Golden Eagles. The Golden Eagles would shoot well in the second period in hopes to knot the game back up once again, but the number of shots taken would hurt the Golden Eagles as Gannon would score 22 more points in the quarter to take a 43-28 lead into the locker room.
In the second half, Gannon would ride the wave of excellent shooting with their 70% shot percentage (12-17). The Golden Eagles would find 11 successful shots from the field in the second half, but the Golden Knights would find their way to an 86-57 victory over Charleston at home.
