LOCK HAVEN, Pa.—Today at regionals, the Golden Eagles punched their ticket to another NCAA Division II Cross Country National Championship, as the men and women raced to another first place finish.
The women started the day off strong winning the 6k with a total of 74 points. Sophomore Julie LaFare finished in second place and broke a school record with a time of 20:34.1, while Lily Dowdell finished in thirteenth place, Mercy Jepleting finished in sixteenth place, Jeanne Corroy finished in twenty-first place, Madison Woolwine finished in twenty-second place and Lia Markert finished in thirty-fourth place. LaFare, Dowdell, Jepleting, Corey and Woolwine received All-Atlantic Region First-Team honors for their performance.
The men followed the women's lead and dominated in the 10k with George Couttie claiming first place with a time of 30:10.5, Zane Chalker claiming second with a time of 30:17.2 and Matthys Bourse claiming third with a time of 30:33.9. All three runners broke the 10k school record. Corey Schobelock and Samuel Idiens also had successful runs, as Schobelock finished in twentieth place with a time of 31:17.9 and Idiens finished in thirty-fifth place with a time of 31:54.1. Like the women, Couttie, Chalker, Bourse and Schobelock also received All-Atlantic Region First Team honors for their performance.
