Golden Eagles Fall to Falcons on the Road 77-64

South Euclid Ohio. – The Golden Eagles fell to the Falcons of Notre Dame College on the road 77-64.  

The Basics:

Records: UC 17-8 (14-5 MEC), NDC 16-9, (12-7 MEC) 

How it Happened: 

The Wednesday evening matchup featured the #3 and #4 teams in the Mountain East Conference. The Falcons of Notre Dame College were looking to continue their hot streak at home while the Golden Eagles were looking for a road victory late in the season.  

The first half was an exciting one with fourteen lead changes and both teams battling for buckets. The game was neck and neck with Charleston leading 24-23 at the 8:27 mark, but the Falcons responded with a twelve-point run to take the 34-24 lead with 4:07 left in the half. Charleston then responded with a twelve-point run of their own to put them back on top by two with just under 45 seconds to play. The Falcons ended the half with a three to take the 37-36 advantage heading into the locker room. 

The second half featured ten more lead changes which all came in the first eleven minutes of the half. The Flacons and the Golden Eagles went bucket for bucket keeping the score within three for the first ten minutes. The Falcons began to get comfortable and pulled away with the lead when they went on a six-point, jumping out ahead of Charleston 62-56 with 6:09 left in regulation. Charleston missed some key shots, allowing the Falcons to continue to extend their lead. With just 2:35 left to play, the Golden Eagles needed to go on a big run, but the Falcons kept the momentum going, taking the contest by a final score of 77-64. 

The Golden Eagles struggled from beyond the arc in the match only making 4-24. Eddie Colbert III contributed 17 points in the contest for Charleston.
