BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Davis & Elkins' Jordan Hyland was named the Mountain East Conference Men's Golfer of the Week, while Charleston's Beatrice Dietz was recognized as the Women's Golfer of the Week.
The MEC Golfer of the Week awards are presented by The Health Plan.
Dietz, a junior from Palm Coast, Fla., was crowned individual champion at the D&E Battle at Brunswick over the weekend. The junior shot 78 and 77 over the two-day event, as she outpaced the second-place finisher by six strokes. As a team, Charleston took first place with a score of 653.
Hyland, a senior from Northern Ireland, took first place at the D&E Battle at Brunswick with a two-under par (142) for the tournament. His performance also helped the Senators to a first-place finish at the event, which included a win over the 36th-ranked team in the country, Wayne State.
