Game 1: UC 2, GSU 1
McCown started UC's day off strong, striking out eight Pioneers in seven innings pitched, while only allowing five hits. Charleston's runs came in the bottom of the fourth and sixth inning on a sacrifice fly from Jeritza Montero and a sharp single by Andujar. McCown kept GSU scoreless until the bottom of the seventh inning when three pioneers hit consecutive singles. With one out and runners on second and third, second baseman Montero was able to stop the bleeding by snagging a line drive and diving head first into second base, doubling up the runner.
