Charleston, W.Va.- The Golden Eagles collected three wins on the day, as the March 29 game resumed to start the evening. Charleston went on to defeat West Virginia State 3-to-2 in the suspended game, 6-to-4 in game one and 4-to-0 in game two.
Suspended Game: 3 UC, 2 WVSU
After a 14-day intermission due to electrical issues at Lady Jackets Field, game two from the March 29 matchup resumed in Charleston. With Brianna McCown (15-2) on the mound, the Golden Eagles defeated the Lady Jackets 3-to-2. In two innings pitched, McCown picked up the win with four strikeouts and only one hit allowed.
The game resumed with a runner on first and Charleston up to bat in the top of the eighth inning. Bella Andujar was able to swipe second on a passed ball, putting the Golden Eagles into scoring position. With two outs, Jeritza Montero smacked in the winning run on sharp single up the middle, giving UC a 3-to-2 advantage. McCown was able to make the lead stand as she shut down the Lady Jackets in the bottom of the eighth inning.
Game One: 6 UC, 4 WVSU
McCown secured the second win of the day for Charleston on eleven strikeouts and four runs allowed in seven innings pitched. The MEC Softball Pitcher of the Week is now tied for first in the conference in wins.
Like clockwork, shortstop Hannah Rose started UC's offense off strong with a home run over the right field fence. Emma Groe followed up Rose's home run with one of her own in the bottom of the second, putting Charleston ahead 3-to-0. The Golden Eagles went on to score three more in the bottom half of the third inning, giving them a comfortable 6-to-0 lead. Plating three runs on four hits, the Lady Jackets put pressure on McCown in the top of the fifth inning. That was all they were able to get though, as the junior was able to shut their rally down for the win.
Game Two: 4 UC, 0 WVSU
Danielle Bauer (7-4) threw a gem in the final regular season game against West Virginia State. The senior struck out six Lady Jackets, while only allowing four hits in seven innings pitched.
Charleston's run support came off the bats of Brionna Bowman, Allysa Lake and Emma Groe. Raegan West continues to see the ball well, as she went 2-for-3 with two runs scored in game two.

Charleston will host another set of doubleheaders this weekend, as they face Alderson Broaddus University on Saturday and Norte Dame College on Sunday. Both series will start at 1 p.m.
