McCown Throws No-No, as Charleston Mercy Rules Alderson Broaddus Twice

Charleston, W.Va.-The UC train keeps on chugging, as the Golden Eagles mercy rule Alderson Broaddus 10-to-0 in game one and 9-to-1 in game two. Brianna McCown (16-2) continues to lead the Mountain East Conference in wins with her sixteenth win in a row and second no-hitter of the season.

Across both games, the Golden Eagles smacked 31 hits with junior Hannah Rose going 5-for-6 with a double, three runs scored, a run-batted-in and two stolen bases. The All-American leads the nation in batting average and runs-per-game.

Game One: 10 UC, 0 Alderson Broaddus (five innings)
The first game of the doubleheader was led by starting pitcher Brianna McCown who went on to no-hit and strike out six Battlers in five innings pitched.

Charleston's offense collected ten runs on 14 hits with three runs scoring in the first inning and seven scoring in the second inning. Rose went 3-for-3 with two runs scored and one run-batted-in, while Montero went 2-for-3 with a double, one run-batted-in and one run scored. West was also productive at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs-batted-in and two runs scored.

Game Two: 9 UC, 1 Alderson Broaddus (six innings)
Charleston's offense popped off in the second game of the doubleheader with a total of nine runs scored on 17 hits. The entire lineup was productive, as each Golden Eagle recorded at least one hit. Lake led the offense as she went 3-for-4 with three runs-batted-in, one run scored and a stolen base.

Starting pitcher Danielle Bauer (7-4) and reliever Addison Mass held Alderson Broaddus to one run. Bauer struck out two Battlers and allowed three hits and one run to score in four innings pitched, while Mass only allowed one hit in two innings pitched to conclude the game.

Charleston hosts Norte Dame College in another doubleheader tomorrow. The start time has been moved to 10 a.m. in an attempt to beat the rain.
