Dominate Pitching Leads Charleston to Another Doubleheader Sweep

Charleston, W. Va. - University of Charleston softball improves to 27-6 overall and 21-3 in conference play after their sweep of the Notre Dame College.

Starting pitcher Brianna McCown leads the conference in wins, while shortstop Hannah Rose leads the conference in batting average, slugging percentage, on base percentage, on base plus slugging percentage and runs scored.

Game One: 1 UC, 0 NDC
Brianna McCown (17-2) extends her win streak to seventeen games, as she shutout Notre Dame with eight strikeouts and only three hits allowed in seven innings pitched.

The Golden Eagles' four hits came off the bats of Hannah Rose, Isabella Andujar, Emma Groe and Brionna Bowman. Charleston scratched across the lone run of the ball game when pinch runner Brittny Ogg scrambled home on a wild pitch in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Game Two: 3 UC, 1 NDC
Senior Dani Bauer (8-4) led the Golden Eagles to their second victory of the day with seven strikeouts and only one hit and one run allowed in seven innings pitched.

Despite the loss, Notre Dame was able to stifle the Golden Eagles' bats, holding them to only four hits. Rose went 1-for-3 with a double and one run scored, and Bowman went 1-for-2 with a run-batted-in. Kaylee Hotchkiss and Raegan West also went 1-for-2 with a run scored, while Allysa Lake plated Charleston's second RBI of game two.

Charleston will host Kentucky State University in a doubleheader matchup on Thursday starting at 3 p.m.
