The Golden Eagles Sweep the Senators

Elkins, W.Va.- Break out the brooms, as Charleston (29-6) defeats Davis and Elkins 3-2 in both games of the doubleheader.

Highlights:
Hannah Rose went 4-6 on the day with a home run, two doubles, three runs scored, two stolen bases and a walk.

Game One: 3 UC, 2 D&E
Brianna McCown (18-2) picked up her eighteenth win in a row with ten strikeouts, six hits and and only two runs allowed in seven innings pitched. McCown is the reigning Mountain East Conference Pitcher of the Week for the third time this season, as she continues to lead the conference in wins.

Offensively, the Golden Eagles collected seven hits with Rose smacking two doubles. The junior shortstop went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run scored. Brionna Bowman went 2-for-3 with a run scored, while Isabella Andujar and Morgan Hoppe are credited with an RBI.

Game Two: 3 UC, 2 D&E
The second game of the doubleheader was a battle. Davis and Elkins scored first off a string of singles in the bottom of the first inning, giving them an early 1-0 lead. The Senators were able to hold Charleston scoreless until Rose homered to centerfield in the fourth inning to tie the game.

The sixth inning proved to be eventful with Rose walking and Andujar doubling to put two runners in scoring position for the Golden Eagles. Allysa Lake plated the go-ahead run on a groundout to second base.

The lead was short lived though, as D&E's first basemen Linzey Allard homered to tie the game in the bottom half of the frame. Following the homer, the Senators reached on another single. It looked as if D&E would pull ahead with catcher Honesty Holt doubling down the right field line, but the Senator was gunned down at home on a bullet thrown by second baseman Jertiza Montero.

In the seventh inning, Charleston drew a pair of walks and managed to get both runners into scoring position on a passed ball. Bowman closed out the scoring for the game on an RBI groundout to shortstop.

Addison Mass (3-0) earned the win in game two after she came in relief for starting pitcher Dani Bauer in the bottom of the sixth inning with it tied at 2-2 with one runner on and two outs. McCown is credited with the save, as she shutdown D&E in the final frame of the game.
