How it Happened
It was a goal-frenzy for the Golden Eagles yesterday afternoon. The team would put up a season-high 52 total shots and limited West Virginia Wesleyan to just six in the contest. Despite the 20 goals scored by Charleston, West Virginia Wesleyan's Gabriella Gomez had a very impressive day in the net with 23 saves. The Golden Eagles would force 44 turnovers out of the Bobcats in the game and scoop up 65 ground balls. A notable stat from the game was Gianni Blundell's record-breaking performance with her seven assists in the game, the most ever in one game by any player at Charleston.

In just one quarter, Charleston would enforce a running clock as they would take an 11-1 lead over the Bobcats. Darby Stolz would complete a hattrick in the opening quarter, while Destiny Jackson would add on two goals in the beginning of the quarter. Madison Partridge, Sydney Verlinghieri, Antonia Martinez, Colleen Ryan, and Hannah Calvert would each contribute a goal in the quarter, with four of them coming off the assist from Blundell. The second period would entail four goals from Charleston, with two completing a hat trick for Partridge and a single goal completing one for Jackson. At halftime, Charleston held a 15-2 lead over West Virginia Wesleyan.

Alyssa Greaver would find the first goal of the second half with a solo goal at the 7:46 mark, followed by Hannah Calvert finding her second of the game with 4:34 remaining in the third. Defender Meghan Smith would come to the attacking third to score her first goal of the season in the fourth quarter. Gianni Blundell would score her second of the game with an assist from Emily Meiss to extend the lead to 19-2. The final goal of the game would come from another defender in Madison Sobolewski to push the lead to 20-2. Charleston would triumph once more and take the victory on the road over West Virginia Wesleyan.
