Charleston Sweep Glenville State in Doubleheader

Charleston extends their win streak to seven games as they defeat Glenville State University (5-0) in game one and (6-1) in game two.

Currently, the Golden Eagles lead the nation in scoring and double plays, while ranking top ten in batting average, on base percentage and strike-out-walk ratio. Leadoff hitter Hannah Rose and slugger Isabella Andujar also rank first in five different individual categories (Rose: batting average and runs per game; Andujar: home runs per game, RBI per game and slugging percentage).

Game 1: 5 UC, 0 GSU

Brianna McCown (11-2) shut out the Pioneers with 13 strikeouts and only two hits allowed in seven innings pitched. The Golden Eagles offense pushed five runs across the plate, scoring one run in the first, three runs in the second and a final run in the sixth inning.

Rose went two-for-four with two runs scored and a run-batted-in, and Jeritza Montero went two-for-four with two runs-batted-in. Super senior Brionna Bowman was also productive at the plate, going two-for-three with one run scored.

Game 2: 6 UC, 1 GSU

Charleston had a slow start in game two, with Glenville State scoring first in the bottom of the third inning. UC quickly turned it around though, as a Raegan West double put the Golden Eagles ahead (2-1) in the top of the fourth. Charleston put another run on the board in the fourth, two in the fifth and Allysa Lake closed out the UC scoring with a solo home run in the seventh.

Starting pitcher Danielle Bauer (6-2) got the win in game one, striking out three Pioneers in 4.1 innings pitched. Addison Mass picked up her second save of the season, as she came in relief for Bauer in the bottom of the fifth. Mass held the Pioneers to one run, while sending four batters down swinging in her 2.2 innings pitched.

Rose continues to stay hot at the plate, as she extends her hit streak to seven games. The All-American went five-for-eight on the day with two doubles, three runs scored and two runs-batted-in.
