Men's Soccer Defeat Concord Mountain Lions on the Road

| By:
Box Score Beckley, W.Va. –  Charleston Men's Soccer defeated the Concord Mountain Lions 2-1 on the road.

The Basics:
Location: Paul Cline Sports Complex
Score: UC  2, CU 1
Records: UC 6-1-0 (4-1-0 MEC), Concord 1-1-3 (0-1-3 MEC)

How it Happened:
On a beautiful Wednesday afternoon, the Golden Eagles took the short trip down to Beckley to face off with Mountain East Conference opponent, Concord University. The Mountain lions who entered the match 1-0-3 on the season were looking for their second win on the year and first in MEC play while the Golden Eagles were looking to improve to 4-1 in conference play.

Charleston jumped out ahead of Concord in the sixteenth minute when a Jose Suarez Monaco pass found Lewis Redding for the Golden Eagles first goal of the afternoon.

The Charleston squad was in complete control of the match, dominating possession over the Mountain Lions until Concord took only their third shot of the afternoon. The shot by Fabian Amhof would equalize the game, sending the teams to the locker room all knotted up at 1-1.

Just six minutes into the second half, Charleston's Joao Belmudes gave the Golden Eagles the advantage when he sent a ball into the top right corner. The unassisted left footed shot was Belmudes fourth of the season.

Goals from Redding and Belmudes would be enough for Charleston to defeat the Concord Mountain Lions. The final score would stand at 2-1 in favor of the Golden Eagles.

Up Next:
Charleston will have return to action next Wednesday, September 27th at home against the Hilltoppers of West Liberty. Kickoff is slated for 7PM following the completion of the women's match.
