The Golden Eagles Power Past the Tigers

Salem, W.Va. - The University of Charleston Golden Eagles traveled to Salem University in an out of conference match up on Wednesday, October 9th.

The Basics:
Location: Catalano Stadium
Score: UC 8, SU 2
Records: UC 10-0-1 (7-0-0 MEC), Salem 2-9-0

How it Happened:
The Golden Eagles got off to a flyer and were 3-0 up inside 11 minutes. Caio Moraes got them up and running in just the fourth minute with a good finish after Brazilian compatriot Joao Belmudes played him through. Jack Kay then doubled the lead in the 10th minute after a great through ball from Franco Tradatti, before Kay dinked the keeper. A minute later, it was three and Moraes had his second with Tomas Petrungaro being the provider this time. Salem did pull one back before half time however, with the ball somehow darting into Nicolai Gundersen's top left corner.

Into the second half and Charleston again made a fast start. Joao Belmudes, like most games recently, got his name on the scoresheet 85 seconds after the restart with a finish into the bottom right corner following a Paul Hoste assist. Salem pulled another back to keep the game interesting for a short while until Jack Kay, like the poacher he is, capitalized on a Joao Silva header which was heading towards the Salem goal to get a touch and score his second of the game, Charleston's fifth. Silva then finally got his goal from the penalty spot after Ethan Zarka was taken out on the left hand side of the area, sending the keeper the wrong way in the process.

Kay then completed his hat trick by sliding the ball under the Tigers keeper following good play by Michail Tselios and João Silva. Hugo Prats Deusdad rounded off the night with a goal after some hard work pressing the Salem back line.
