Dominating Performance from Charleston on Senior Day

Charleston, W. Va. – The Golden Eagles scored nine goals on Senior Day to take a commanding victory over the Wheeling Cardinals.  
 
The Basics:
Location: Welch Athletic Complex
Score: UC 9, WU 1
Records: UC 8-3 (7-1 MEC), Wheeling 3-8-0 (2-6-0 MEC)
 
How it Happened:
The first period was dominated by Charleston as they quickly established control over the game against Wheeling. Frankie Morrow opened the scoring for Charleston with a goal at 4:08, assisted by Cassidy Collins and Juliette Lucas. Morrow struck again shortly after at 12:35, netting his second with Collins providing the assist.

Juliette Lucas made it 3-0 for the Golden Eagles at 13:42, with assists from Lina Jaime and Cassidy Collins, Collins third assist of the game.
Moments later, Hannah Goes added another goal for CHA at 19:21, assisted by Jaime off a corner. Demari Curry capped off the scoring for the period with a goal at 35:39, assisted by Ciara Casamento.

Charleston had multiple corner kicks throughout the period and maintained a strong offensive presence, with various players taking shots on goal. The teams made several substitutions as they aimed to optimize their lineups. Overall, Charleston showcased a powerful offensive strategy, leading 5-0 by the end of the first period, while Wheeling struggled to convert their opportunities.

The second period continued the dominance of Charleston, who scored four more goals, bringing their total to nine for the match. Lina Jaime opened the half by scoring early at 45:33, making it 6-0. Jaime was able to beat several defenders on the left side of the box and eventually find the back of the net for an unassisted goal.

Cassidy Collins followed up at 62:35 with an assist from Jaime, pushing the lead to 7-0. Jamie sent a long pass across the field to find Collins on the right wing. Collins then sent a shot into the left side of the goal for her second goal of the season.

Demari Curry scored Charleston's eighth goal at 73:22, assisted by Juliette Lucas and Kate Duffy. The Cardinals managed to break the shutout for Wheeling, scoring at 77:04 making it 8-Charleston then tacked on the final goal of the afternoon when Anna Gregor scored at 81:53, with Duffy providing another assist.

Overall, Charleston maintained a commanding presence throughout the period, showcasing their offensive prowess, while Wheeling struggled to mount an effective response. The game ended with a score of 9-1 in favor of Charleston.
 
Up Next:
Charleston will host the Fighting Falcons of Fairmont State on a predicted to be cold Wednesday match under the lights. Kick-off is aimed for 7:00PM on October 16th.
