Charleston Picks Up Eighth Conference Victory with Win Over Fairmont State

Charleston, W. Va. – The Golden Eagles defeated the Fairmont State Fighting Falcons 2-0 on a chilly Wednesday evening in the Capital City.

How it Happened:
The game kicked off with both teams starting strong. Charleston took the lead early, with Lina Jaime scoring in the 9th minute. Shortly after, Jamie Bland doubled the score in the 23rd minute, assisted by Lina Jaime.

Fairmont State struggled to find their rhythm, recording multiple shots but failing to convert. Notable attempts came from Ashley Rainho and Braylyn Sparks, both of which were saved by Charleston's goalkeeper Jordan Maynard.

The half ended with Charleston leading 2-0, thanks to their effective offensive plays and solid defense.

The first half concluded with Charleston in a strong position, demonstrating effective teamwork and offensive strategies, while Fairmont State aimed to regroup and find a way back into the game in the second half.

The second half began with Fairmont State determined to make a comeback, trailing 2-0. Both teams made several substitutions, with Charleston aiming to maintain their lead.
 
Fairmont State pushed hard for a goal, with notable shots from Serenity Thomas and Braylyn Sparks, but they were consistently thwarted by Maynard's saves. Charleston also created opportunities, with shots from Lina Jaime and Michelle Wenger, all stopped by the Falcons goalkeeper.
 
The match ended with Charleston maintaining their 2-0 lead. Despite Fairmont States determined efforts and several scoring opportunities, they could not convert, while Charleston's defense and goalkeeping proved too strong. Both teams showcased solid performances, but Charleston's early goals and defensive resilience secured their victory.
