SALISBURY, N.C. — The University of Charleston women's volleyball team came up short in a hard-fought match, losing in straight sets (25-19, 25-22, 25-21) to Catawba College (3-10, 1-5 SAC) on Saturday afternoon at Goodman Arena.

How it Happened:
In the first set, the Golden Eagles (13-6, 3-2 MEC) stayed close early on, trading points with the Indians. Charleston's defense held strong, but Catawba capitalized on late errors and a well-timed offensive push to secure the 25-19 win.
 
Charleston responded in the second set with improved offense, tying the score seven times throughout the frame. Despite gaining momentum, the Golden Eagles couldn't close out key points down the stretch, and Catawba took advantage of a few miscues to claim the set 25-22.
 
The third set saw Charleston push the Indians to the limit once again, rallying back from an early deficit. Patrycja Majos led the way with 11 kills for Charleston, helping the team stay within striking distance. However, Catawba's steady play and timely blocks gave them the edge, closing out the match with a 25-21 victory.
 
Up Next:
Charleston will aim to bounce back in their next match as they continue conference play next week. They will take a short trip down the the road to face the Yellow Jackets of West Virginia State University. The match will begin at 7pm on Tuesday, October 15 in the Walker Convocation Center.
