Charleston Collects Tenth Mountain East Conference Win After Defeating Davis & Elkins

 
Charleston, W. Va. – Charleston won their tenth Mountain East Conference match with a 2-1 victory over the Senators of Davis & Elkins College.

How it Happened:
In an exciting match, Charleston faced off against the Senators of Davis & Elkins. Charleston quickly established offensive pressure with shots from Lina Jaime and Alison Rothmann, but both attempts were saved or went wide.

At 10:57, Lina Jaime scored the opening goal for Charleston, giving them a 1-0 lead aftefr beating a defender and finding the back of the net.

Charleston continued to create opportunities, with notable shots from Frankie Morrow and Juliette Lucas, but many were either saved or missed the target. Both teams made several substitutions throughout the first half to maintain energy and strategize, with Charleston rotating players like Korynn Porter and Jamie Bland into the game.

The first half concluded with Charleston leading 1-0, setting the stage for an intriguing second half. Overall, Charleston showed strong offensive skills, while Davis & Elkins aimed to regroup and find their rhythm in the next period.

Both teams made several substitutions to freshen their lineups for the start of the second half.

Davis & Elkins quickly threatened Charleston's goal, with Rylie Galterio getting a shot saved by Jordan Maynard at 49:57. At 55:02, Galterio found the back of the net, scoring the equalizer and bringing the score to 1-1.

Following the goal, both teams exchanged opportunities, but neither could capitalize immediately. Charleston's Juliette Lucas continued to create chances, though her shots at 62:23 and 70:05 but neither found the back of the net.

At 81:36, Juliette Lucas scored, assisted by Kim Smal, putting Charleston back in the lead at 2-1.

The match concluded with the Golden Eagles victorious 2-1 over the Senators in a Wednesday evening Mountain East Conference battle.
